Carlyon Bay, St Austell
At last, a sunny and wind free day greeted us at Carlyon Bay site, stewarded by Sue and Chris. A big thanks to them for ensuring we were able to sit outside and bask all weekend.
The smell of bacon ( no not that bacon) wafted around the pitches on Saturday morning and in the afternoon there were a few BBQs in evidence as well, along with the odd soft drink and bottle of Adam’s Ale.
Finn made his camping debut and duly received lots of ooohs and ahhhs. There were quite a few new visitors to the meet as well, making up around 20 units.
There is plenty of space to exercise dogs and the site also has a pool which proved highly popular given the sunny weather.
Saturday afternoon we had a tea and cake meet up with Sue going through the answers of a very tricky Dingbats quiz themed around father’s day.
It was really nice to see Val who popped in and delivered us some future quizzes. It was great to hear of the memories she’s had camping with the club with Gerald, Roy and Alison with whom they’ve been friends for many years.
A Roosters report isn’t complete without some kind of scandal or event to muse upon.
If you’re into hi viz football shirts, where looking at it wearing sunglasses would be obligatory, then step forward Mr B. Half of us shielded our eyes. I seem to recall Del Boy using a similarly bright colour to paint a restaurant in Peckham. Instead of our eyes, let the train take strain!
