Cornwall BCC New Year meet
Once again the club held its New Year meet at Trevarrian, just outside Newquay.
Everyone arrived on Sunday to an unusually dry and balmy campsite and the weather remained favourable for the duration of the meet. A real bonus indeed.
A trip to see the lights at Padstow was undertaken and they were spectacular. On Sunday evening, Arthur entertained everyone in his own inimitable style.
On Monday a bowling tournament was organised along with a basket meal.. some people even used cutlery! Everyone joined in and Tamar Trevor, the ‘King Pin’, emerged victorious .. proving that cream can on occasion, come first. Bingo was the evenings fun. Legs eleven!!
New Year’s Eve
Fancy dress was a 1960s themed event. Great effort by those who dressed up. The music played into the night and all enjoyed a good boogie.
A ‘row off’ between our group and the Motor Caravan Group was declared a draw.
On New Years Day some went out for lunch and had a walk around Trenance Gardens where a woodpecker was spotted ‘fishing’ in the lake.
The rest of us think it’s a kingfisher. Maybe it’s a long lost relative of the fishing woodpecker, known for rapidly rapping its beak on the waters surface to attract a mate.
It was a lovely way to start the new year.
All that remains is for me to do, as Rooster in Chief, is thank all that attended, have a prosperous 2026 and we will see you ‘in the field’!
