Doubletrees Farm
With all meets now opening at midday, that’s 12:00, we were welcomed by our host George with his two parents, Alan and Alison.
A couple of other campers were hot on our heels but George wasn’t being rushed! He led us to our pitch and we set about pitching up in the sun, which was rather pleasant. We gave George a biscuit treat and he toddled off to site the other arrivals, wagging his little tail behind him.
The weather forecast was for a sunny and none to windy weekend so we settled down to enjoy the views across to Par Beach and out to sea. Sited high up, the views are stunning, so this site is well worth a visit.
George and his doggy friends could enjoy the large dog field to run and play in.
On Saturday we ventured out for a trail walk from Ponts Mill up the Luxulyan Valley to Treffry Viaduct. It’s a steady walk of about 2.5 miles.
A few dark clouds made an appearance just as we sat down for the club tea and biscuit gathering but thankfully they passed by and the sun returned so we were able enjoy our fare.
The Pied Piper of Doubletrees.
Towards the end of our afternoon tea, the sound of a tin whistle piccoloed across the site. What could this be? Lo and behold, it was Dennis, the Pied Piper of Doubletrees, with a pocketful of doggy treats and line of hungry pooches following him. I’m obviously not a dog and he had no corn, so I didn’t join in. So this is a shoutout to anyone nice enough to indulge me and bring a bag of flipping corn!
Bacon cooking rules.
It has been noted by The Committee that if you’re cooking breakfast outside, this activity can cause great upset to those not cooking. Cooking bacon upwind of other campers can leave them feeling somewhat unhappy, hungry, wishing they’d had more than bird seed for breakfast and must stop with immediate effect. Delicious bacon smells must not drift more than 6 metres!
Cooks must raise a wet finger in the air to make sure that the current wind direction will not cause bacon smells to drift towards others. If in any doubt cooking should not proceed or you should speak to committee member responsible for Bacon Cooking for a final decision
