Polmanter

A rather chilly, windy reception was awaiting us when we arrived at Polmanter, Halestown, just outside St. Ives.

Our cheerful hosts Putzy and Mel, booked us in and pitched us. We couldn’t help notice a washing line full of socks on their pitch. I thought therefor that Rob B was coming.. but no.

Hidden in the socks were lots of items that we had to identify by touch, (where was Rob when we needed him),with the winners to be revealed on Saturday at the tea and cake get-together.

The facilities are very good with an excellent dog walk and the Stable Bar, serving food and drink.

Saturday afternoon tea

Despite a really miserable day, low cloud and lots of drizzly rain, the afternoon tea went ahead. The winners, with a perfect score of 20 from the sock game were new campers with the group.

Accused of cannibalism!

As a long in the beak Old Rooster, one tries to avoid controversy.. most of the time. But I have to deal with the scurrilous accusation by Steve H that because Paperazzi and I ate a whole chicken for lunch… I am a cannibal! Never.

Given the only other options were a vegan bacon and tofu sausage roll and a dish of grass or chickpea sirloin steak with ground rice broccoli, a delicious spit roasted bird, with garlic and herbs could not be passed up.

Anyway, aside from that, I’m tofu, chickpea and vegan bacon and reconstituted grass intolerant. Gross. No self respecting Rooster would eat that. Thus I totally refute the claim that I’ve got cannibalistic tendencies. As long as you don’t choke it, eat that chicken.

Cockadoodledo!
