Veryan and the mystery of the missing bacon..A Rooster Investigatiom
What an absolutely cracking weekend at the C&CC site, lots of sun, pasties, a quiz and mystery that Sherlock Holmes couldn’t solve.
20 units with a few welcome newcomers arrived on site throughout Friday, bathing in wonderful sunshine and into a really nice relaxed atmosphere and a surprise Treasurers Treat, welcomed by stewards Steve and Mel H.
Thanks must go to our erstwhile committee who did a great job across the weekend. Saturday lunchtime we had Oggy Pasties, and they were lush, with a tea and cake session with a fab quiz compiled by our own Magnus, Mel. She neither looks or sounds like the great man but her quizzes are better! Who knew so many things about the number 125.. which just how long the C&CC has been running!
Thanks to everyone who contributed by baking and making such fabulous food for us all to enjoy.
Veryan is a lovely area to explore with St Mawes a short drive away.
Both Friday and Saturday evening allowed various groups to have BBQs and a few drinks, making it a very chilled out weekend. And now the mystery…..
On Saturday morning, a bacon roll cook up was organised with three master grill chefs skillfully cooking loads of lovely bacon. It transpires that some of the bacon, 17 slices to be precise, went missing, and nobody would own up!
So Rooster had to solve this dastardly mystery! He questioned numerous club members, several of whom bore witness to what happened. The lingering smell of bacon also helped. He narrowed down his investigation, hardly daring to stop pecking corn, his Roosters heightened sense of smell located them… in between a bap stashed in Steve H’s camping chair! The rascal! He must have known I was closing in as it was half eaten. Upon being questioned all he could say was.. ‘Nom nom nom’!
With the mystery solved, we were all able to head home. There’s no meet next week but we meet again at The Old Stables in two weeks.
Also our THS starts at Trevornick, Holywell Bay, from the 5th to the 26th June
